Start Recycling Boxboard - 7.31.2008
Pope/Douglas Solid Waste Management's Recycling Center has recently begun accepting Boxboard for recycling. Recyclers may now include Boxboard in their Magazine and Catalog mix when they come to deposit recyclables at the Recycling Center.
Q: What is Boxboard?
A: Boxboard is the name given to non-corrugated boxes that we see in our pantry or bathroom (along with other places) that are NOT made for storage in refrigerators or freezers. It may also be called Paperboard.
Examples: Cereal Boxes, Pasta Boxes, Rice Boxes, Potato Flake Boxes, Cake Boxes, Tissue Boxes, Toilet Paper Cores, Paper Towel Cores, Shoe Boxes, Manilla File Folders.
NOT RECYCLABLE: Boxes that are made for your FRIDGE or FREEZER. These boxes are made to have "Wet Strength" so that when they become wet they get stronger, rather than breaking down into a pulp to be recycled. For this reason we cannot accept the following: Pop boxes (sometimes called "fridge packs"), beer carriers, frozen food boxes, margarine or butter boxes, etc.
